About Workplace Giving

Workplace Giving is our term for annual charity campaigns in the workplace

It allows employees to make a financial contribution to nonprofit organizations. And – just as important – it gives them a way to connect to the lives of many others in the community.

Most employees prefer the ease and simplicity of Payroll Deduction, where a small amount is automatically deducted from the paycheck every pay period. Payroll deduction is a relatively painless way to give, and that allows employees to contribute more than they could otherwise.

You have choices!

Alaska Community Share is unique in that we encourage the employee to designate where his or her dollars will go.  By writing in their designation, they can support either one or several of Alaska Community Share's 40 plus member organizations, or support all of them equally with a donation right to Alaska Community Share.

And because Alaska Community Share believes so strongly that the donor is best qualified to determine where his or her pledge dollars should go, he or she can designate their dollars to any 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency in the state through our campaigns – we will gladly pass along the donation to that organization.

What can you do?

You can contribute to Alaska Community Share or any of our member agencies through workplace payroll deduction programs or by simply making a donation directly to Alaska Community Share. The following information should be helpful in determining how to complete a contribution.

Do you currently have a workplace payroll deduction program that offers Alaska Community Share?
If your current employer offers a workplace giving campaign that includes Alaska Community Share, all you need to do is complete a pledge form and send one copy to your payroll department, make sure one copy is sent to Alaska Community Share and keep one copy for your own records. Your contribution will be sent to Alaska Community Share on a schedule to be determined by your employer.

Does your current employer offer a workplace giving program that does not include Alaska Community Share?
Adding Alaska Community Share to an already existing workplace giving program is very simple and only requires that your employer allow Alaska Community Share to participate in your current workplace campaign. Alaska Community Share can assist you and your employer in the process of expanding your current workplace campaign. We can provide you with all of the necessary campaign materials and information to make Alaska Community Share a successful addition to your current workplace giving program.

Does your current employer not offer any type of workplace giving program?
Creating a workplace-giving program is an easy process that requires only the approval of your employer and the desire of the employees. Workplace giving campaigns have been fine-tuned to be a very effective, yet un-intrusive method of making contributions to non-profit organizations.

Alaska Community Share can assist you in creating a successful and efficient workplace giving campaign. Simply contact Alaska Community Share for details on how to start the process of making workplace-giving part of your charitable activity.

However you choose to give to Alaska Community Share, your gift will be staying here in Alaska, helping to make Alaska a better place for all Alaskans.
